WSP have just received funding from The Humber Learning Consortium to run a filmmaking project targeted at an unemployed group in Barnsley.

What is the 24 weeks project?

’24 weeks’ is split in to two 12-week blocks of 4 hours per week. Your client group will  work with our team of specialist filmmakers/directors and editors to learn filmmaking, script writing and editing skills which will lead to the group devising and creating a series of  short films entirely lead by the group addressing current issues that effect themselves and their community from their perspective.

What will the participants learn?

During the 24 weeks the participants will learn new skills in planning, delivering and finishing projects, basic filmmaking, script writing and editing, through participation participants will be physically active, work under their own initiative, develop working relationships and support groups with their peers, improve their self-esteem and create work that can not only be used to highlight their thoughts and perspectives of issues from within their own community but can be used in the future as a creative outlet. All of this has the added benefit of improving their health and well-being.

When does the project start? And where?

The first 12-week block begins the week commencing 24/5/10 and will be held at Barnsley Civic Theatre on Hansen Street, Barnsley Town Centre.

How many places are there and what is the cost?

There are 10 places available on each block, there entire block is FREE .
